In Kansas v. Hendricks, the US Supreme Court upheld as constitutional a Kansas regulation, the Sexually Violent Predator Act, less than which Hendricks, a pedophile, was located to have a "psychological abnormality" defined being a "congenital or obtained issue impacting the emotional or volitional ability which predisposes the person to commit sex
